Iowa City Bird Club

Iowa City Bird Club, Inc. is an Iowa nonprofit organization serving birders across Eastern Iowa and beyond. Its mission is to share an enthusiasm for birds and birding through welcoming activities, education, and opportunities to volunteer. Everyone is welcome at the club’s monthly meetings, held on the third Thursday of most months. Meetings include an educational activity and time to talk about birds and birding.

The club organizes bird-watching field trips, regular walks, beginning birder classes, and special events such as the Christmas Bird Count, Spring Migration Count, and Warbler Walks. Members can also borrow a spotting scope for a week, making it easier to observe waterfowl, shorebirds, and other birds. Educational resources on the club’s website include birding locations, Iowa bird checklists, seasonal guides, maps, photos, and links to birding organizations and research resources.

The club shares event notices through its calendar and an email group for members, and offers membership information and club merchandise. Visitors can contact the club with questions, suggestions, or membership inquiries.
