IPB

The International Peace Bureau (IPB) is an international peace organisation and non-profit association registered under Swiss law. It describes itself as the world’s oldest peace federation and works with member organisations and civil society groups on issues related to peace, disarmament and human security. Its concerns include reducing military spending, promoting disarmament for development, and addressing the effects of nuclear, chemical and conventional weapons, landmines and small arms. IPB also examines the connections between peace, gender, the environment and climate change, and supports peace education and youth engagement.

IPB organises campaigns, events and public discussions, including the Global Campaign on Military Spending, which calls attention to the balance between defence budgets and development needs. It participates in international forums and works with partners on topics such as conflict, peaceful solutions and peacebuilding. The organisation publishes statements, books, studies, activity reports and newsletters, and shares multimedia resources. People can engage through membership, volunteering, events and donations, or subscribe to receive updates about IPB’s work and that of its member organisations.
