IPERID GlobalTrends

IPERID Global Trends is the international affairs event and research initiative of the Instituto de Pesquisas Estratégicas em Relações Internacionais e Diplomacia (IPERID), a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank founded in 2017 and based in Recife, Pernambuco. The institute conducts scientific research across Brazil and has an international reach, bringing together the diplomatic and consular community, public institutions, academia, and businesses. Its work focuses on international relations, diplomacy, security, geopolitics, and global cooperation, connecting international developments with their implications for Brazil.

Through the Global Trends program, IPERID organizes events featuring expert panels, presentations, public discussions, and networking. The series explores subjects including international security, innovation, entrepreneurship, public health, and Brazil’s place in the world. The initiative also promotes academic reflection and produces international reports with domestic relevance. Its 2026 edition examines 130 years of the Treaty of Friendship, Navigation and Commerce between Brazil and Japan, with speakers discussing Japanese security, shifting geopolitical dynamics, and the perspectives of Japan, China, and Brazil.
