The Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution (IPHES) is a transdisciplinary institution that conducts advanced research, education, and knowledge transfer in the field of human and social evolution. Our mission is to explore the changes and transformations in human evolution and behavior through fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and research.

IPHES combines various scientific disciplines, including humanities and social sciences, geosciences, and biosciences, to study both ancient human species and contemporary humans. We develop and apply scientific thought and action based on the evolutionary continuum of human history and the interactions between humans and their environment.

Our work is focused on three core areas: research, training, and foresight. We collaborate with international institutions, universities, and research centers, and finance our activities through public funding, competitive grants, donations, and services provided to the private sector.
