About IraQueer عراق كوير
IraQueer is Iraq's first national LGBT+ organization, founded in March 2015. As an intersectional human rights organization, IraQueer is dedicated to advancing LGBT+ rights in Iraq through knowledge production, advocacy, and providing direct services. Their vision is to create an Iraq where LGBT+ individuals are recognized, protected, and have equal rights to every other citizen in the country.
To achieve this, their mission is to empower Iraqi LGBT+ individuals by raising awareness among and about the LGBT+ community in Iraqi society, as well as advocating for LGBT+ rights in Iraq. IraQueer values equality for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, economic situation, religious beliefs, political views, and other identities. They believe in a holistic approach to human rights, acknowledging the complexity of human identities.
With a dedicated staff, IraQueer strives to make a positive impact in the lives of LGBT+ individuals in Iraq
