About IRCICA
The Academy of Fine Arts Collection of Calligraphy, published by IRCICA and MSFAU (Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University), offers a unique and exquisite selection of original calligraphy artworks. This collection, named "Academy of Fine Arts Collection of Calligraphy," showcases the works of renowned artists who taught at the University's Department of Turkish Decorative Arts during the second third of the 20th century. The collection came into existence as an arrangement to support retired teachers who weren't entitled to pensions.
It includes works by eminent masters of calligraphy like Kâmil Akdik, Nuri Korman, Necmeddin Okyay, and İsmail Hakkı Altunbezer, among others. The album, expertly curated by Prof. M.
Uğur Derman, provides in-depth insights into the schools, artists, and the evolution of calligraphy, featuring annotations and translations of texts from Arabic, Persian, and Ottoman Turkish into English and Turkish. With its historical significance and valuable information, this album serves as a definitive reference on the art of Islamic calligraphy
