IRD Duhallow, established in 1989, is a community-based integrated rural development company that aims to improve the welfare and prosperity of the communities in Duhallow. By combining the efforts and resources of State Bodies, Local Authorities, Local Communities, and individual entrepreneurs, IRD Duhallow supports initiatives that generate enterprise and address issues such as rural population decline, immigration, lack of training, economic deprivation, and poor infrastructure. With a focus on supporting both geographically based and issue-based groups, IRD Duhallow has already assisted over 37 communities and more than 60 groups, including those focused on youth, women, mental health, education, culture, and the environment.

Their range of services includes support for agriculture, environmental initiatives, social inclusion groups, childcare, community services, and enterprise development. IRD Duhallow provides grants, training programs, mentoring, and employment and training opportunities. They also offer support for volunteering, training courses, and employment placements.
