Élevage de Gramont is an Irish Cob breeding operation based in Castillonnès, in France’s Lot-et-Garonne region, about 25 kilometres from Bergerac. The farm raises its horses in herds, grazing them on pasture during the warmer months and housing them in sheltered facilities in winter. It produces several foals each year, with the site giving figures of around five to twelve annually and elsewhere describing approximately ten to fifteen.
The breeding programme focuses on carefully selected stallions and broodmares, chosen for their lineage, conformation, health, temperament and suitability to the Irish Cob standard. The farm aims to raise robust, well-built horses, often over 1.50 metres tall, while prioritising their welfare and the preservation of the breed’s qualities. Irish Cobs are valued for their calm nature, versatility, distinctive feathering and flowing manes, making them suited to leisure riding, driving and competition.
Élevage de Gramont offers foals and older horses for sale, and invites prospective owners to enquire about availability, arrange a visit and receive guidance in choosing a horse.
