Irish History Podcast, founded by historian and author Fin Dwyer, is a premier platform for exploring Ireland's rich historical narrative. With a background in archaeology and classical studies from University College Dublin, Fin launched the podcast in 2010 to dive into themes of medieval history. Over the years, he has published notable works including "Witches, Spies and Stockholm Syndrome: Life in Medieval Ireland" and "1348 – A Medieval Apocalypse: War, Famine & Plague in 14th Century Ireland."
The podcast has evolved to include in-depth discussions on topics like the Great Famine, funded by dedicated listeners. Beyond podcasting, Fin has contributed to various historical projects, such as "The Other 1916" for RTE and the BBC's "Tochailt Staire." He also created the immersive Kilkenny Famine Experience and Dublin Famine Tour. The Irish History Podcast not only educates but also connects history enthusiasts through engaging content and community support via platforms like Patreon.
