About IMC
The Irish Manuscripts Commission is an Irish organisation dedicated to promoting public awareness of primary sources and their value to the history, heritage and culture of Ireland. Recognised nationally and internationally as a publisher of historical sources, the Commission makes research materials available through print publications and digital resources.
Its online resources include digital editions of out-of-print books, a searchable database of Franciscan expenditure records from 1764 to 1921, a search tool for published issues of Analecta Hibernica, and a database of 20,000 sources for Irish women’s history. The Commission also publishes Analecta Hibernica, a serial featuring historical documents and research, alongside works such as calendars of papal letters and state papers, the 1641 Depositions, and records relating to Irish dioceses and historical figures.
Visitors can browse and purchase books through the Commission’s online shop, including recent, popular and discounted titles. The organisation also shares news about new editions and publications and takes part in public history events, including the Dublin Festival of History.
