Founded in 2012, the IMO has shattered barriers by removing sheet music from the stage, making orchestral music accessible to musicians and instruments not commonly found in this genre. Led by founder/composer Dave Flynn, conductor Bjorn Bantock, and orchestra leader Niamh Varian-Barry, the IMO boasts a core of 20 world-class musicians. This exceptional ensemble combines ancient Celtic instruments with orchestral strings, winds, brass, guitars, and a jazz-infused rhythm section. They have performed to capacity crowds at renowned venues worldwide, including Moscow's Catholic Cathedral, London's Cadogan Hall, and South Korea's Sori Festival, as well as collaborating with traditional Irish music luminaries such as Liz Carroll, Martin Hayes, Mary Bergin, and Máirtín O'Connor.
