Ironclad Races

Ironclad Races Inc. is a Kinston-based nonprofit that organizes sporting events and donates all proceeds to local nonprofit organizations and charities. Its mission is to benefit the community while bringing visitors to Kinston and showcasing the city’s historic and cultural character.

The organization’s signature event is the annual Mother Earth Brewing Ironclad Half Marathon and 5K, presented with title sponsor Mother Earth Brewing and supported by a local event board, businesses, and volunteers. Described as “the most welcoming Half Marathon in Eastern North Carolina,” the race offers two options for participants: a 13. 1-mile half marathon and a 5K.

The event has welcomed runners since 2015, with participation growing to hundreds in recent years. Proceeds benefit a broad range of local causes and organizations, including community, arts, education, emergency services, and charitable groups. The 2026 race is scheduled for October 17 in Kinston, with registration available for both distances.

Through its events and community partnerships, Ironclad Races connects athletic participation with local giving and regional pride
