Ironspring Orchard is a 29-acre farm on Sand Mountain in north Alabama, near Albertville and Guntersville. Owned and operated by Daniel and Stacy Tabb, the orchard focuses on heirloom and unusual varieties that are difficult to find in grocery stores. Its growers source seeds from seed banks and conservationists, including Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello farm, and cultivate a diverse selection of produce.
The farm grows heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, squash, pumpkins, beans, potatoes, onions, and other vegetables, alongside figs, table grapes, blackberries, and rabbiteye blueberries. Its fruit orchards feature Southern heirloom pears, plums, and apples, while its nut orchards include chestnuts, black walnuts, and hazelnuts. Ironspring also maintains an herbal and tea garden with culinary herbs, edible flowers, and roots.
In addition to produce, the farm grows more than 30 peony varieties and offers perennial and annual cut flowers. Its planned online shop features farm-made herbal and caffeinated teas, herb and pepper seasonings, flavored sugars, jams, and jellies. Peony sales are scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
