IRSA, short for Immigrant & Refugee Services Association, is an organization dedicated to supporting immigrant students and their parents from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Their Youth Settlement Services (YSS) team offers a range of services to help newcomer youngsters succeed in the Canadian school system and adapt to Canadian culture. YSS provides guidance, transfer of skills, and support in dealing with social, emotional, and family challenges that may arise.

To ensure the smooth integration of immigrant students, the youth settlement workers act as advocates on their behalf. They also collaborate with teachers and administrators in Prince Edward Island schools to address the unique needs of newcomer students and resolve any issues that may arise. Some of the services offered by IRSA include information sessions on the PEI Public School System, support with school and kindergarten enrollment, interpretation and translation services for school-related matters, referral to other IRSA departments or community services, and the organization of workshops and activities for students.

IRSA also offers support for immigrant youth participating in sports. Overall, IRSA aims to empower immigrant students and help them thrive in their new environment by providing comprehensive services and support tailored to their specific needs
