iSCAPE

iSCAPE was a pioneering European research and innovation project focused on enhancing air quality and reducing carbon emissions in urban areas, operating from September 2016 to December 2019. The initiative aimed to address air pollution through innovative, sustainable strategies, including the development of "Passive Control Systems," policy interventions, and initiatives that encourage behavioral changes among citizens.

By employing a Living Labs approach, iSCAPE deployed a network of air quality and meteorological sensors, both stationary and mobile, to assess the effectiveness of various interventions on urban environments. The project not only demonstrated a commitment to creating “smart cities” through the use of low-cost sensors but also engaged communities in solving environmental challenges. The findings were shared with policymakers and urban planners to facilitate future sustainable urban development. iSCAPE culminated in a closing event in Dublin, showcasing key results and groundbreaking research aimed at mitigating urban air pollution and combating climate change.
