Islandderry Trout Fishery is a long-established public fishery set among the rolling hills of Dromore, County Down. Offering a peaceful setting for anglers, it comprises two lakes with different facilities and fishing opportunities. The 10.5-acre main lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout and triploid brown trout, and also supports a naturally resident pike population. The one-acre George Freel Initiative Pond holds rainbow and triploid brown trout and is suited to families, groups, children aged 10 and over, disabled anglers, and people new to fishing.
The fishery offers catch-and-release fly angling, children’s fishing, lightweight spinning, and seasonal pike fishing, including pre-booked dead-bait sessions from October to March. Bait angling is not permitted. Visitors can hire one of six boats, equipped with an electric engine, net, and anchor; float-tube and kayak users are also welcome. Private hire is available for the initiative pond, main lake, or entire fishery, with group facilities and selected tackle provided. Islandderry is open to the public daily except Wednesdays, with hours subject to change.
