About It Rains Food Bank of Ethiopia
It Rains Food Bank of Ethiopia, located in Addis Ababa, is a registered food bank established in 2018. Our mission is to expand food banking, alleviate hunger, and enhance food security throughout Ethiopia. We work towards a vision of a food-secured Ethiopia, where everyone has access to sufficient, healthy, and nutritious food at all times.
Through efficient mobilization of resources and innovative strategies, we tackle food waste and match food donations with recipients in need. Our community-based initiatives target vulnerable and underserved segments of the population. By providing culturally appropriate food and tailored training, we offer sustainable solutions to food insecurity.
Since our establishment, we have fed over 20,000 people and distributed more than 24,000 kg of food. We collaborate with 12+ beneficiary agencies to maximize our impact. Our dedicated team, including our Managing Director & Founder, Zenawi Woldetensay, and our volunteers, work tirelessly to nourish communities and spread hope through food.
