About IUSTI
IUSTI, the International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections, is the oldest international organization in the field, founded in 1923. It focuses on achieving international cooperation in the control of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV infection, considering not only the medical aspects but also the social and epidemiological factors. It is recognized by the United Nations Economic and Social Council and the World Health Organization.
The organization operates as a UK-registered charity, with a central Executive and Regional Directors for Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Africa. Membership is open to individuals and organizations with a professional interest in the control of sexually transmitted diseases, with no requirement for a medical qualification. IUSTI holds regular meetings in different regions around the world and conducts an annual world congress in conjunction with ISSTDR, the International Society for Sexually Transmitted Diseases Research.
