Isle of Wight Road Races (IWRR) is an initiative to bring international motorcycle road racing to closed public roads on the Isle of Wight. Led by island resident James Kaye, a two-time British Touring Car Championship winner, the project aims to establish a major motorsport event and raise the island’s profile internationally. Changes to UK law in 2008 made it possible to close public highways for motor racing, creating the opportunity for a road-racing event inspired by the long-running Isle of Man TT.
IWRR is currently focused on developing the proposal and building relationships with residents, businesses and organisations that may be affected. The organisers invite local people to learn about the plans, raise questions and share feedback through the website’s questions and answers section and contact form. Visitors can also follow project news and sign up for updates. The site shares information about proposed race classes and the circuit, alongside updates on the project’s progress. Event dates are yet to be confirmed.
