With 158 national/territorial members across 5 continents, IWUF is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the sole worldwide governing authority for wushu in all its forms. IWUF's vision is to make wushu an Olympic sport and a healthy way of life for people around the globe.

Their mission is to develop wushu worldwide, enriching people's lives physically and mentally, promoting friendship and understanding through the spirit of sport. IWUF offers a wide range of services and activities, including organizing and approving international wushu competitions, formulating technical rules and regulations, promoting international wushu exchanges, and improving health worldwide through wushu practice.
