Jack Pine Stables is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering therapeutic horsemanship for people with special needs. Established in 2000, the program is certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International. It has grown from serving four riders in its early days to supporting approximately 45 to 55 riders each summer. Participants range in age from 4 to 75 and may have physical, mental, or emotional challenges, including high-risk individuals.
At Jack Pine Stables, students learn to ride and care for horses, including grooming and tacking, with activities adapted to their individual abilities. These experiences engage both small and large motor skills while helping riders understand horses and practice being calm and present. Therapeutic riding can support balance, core strength, muscle tone, and coordination. The program also emphasizes the personal rewards of building confidence and self-esteem through achievement and relationships with horses. Jack Pine Stables shares information about its mission, history, programs, events, and ways to support its work through its website and social media.
