About JACL National
JACL National, founded in 1929, is the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the United States. Dedicated to securing and maintaining the civil rights of Japanese Americans and all others affected by injustice and bigotry, JACL works tirelessly to promote a world that values diversity, fairness, equality, and social justice. JACL monitors and responds to issues that impact the civil and human rights of all Americans, particularly within the Asian Pacific American community.
This includes tackling issues of national security and civil liberties in the aftermath of September 11, 2001, and addressing the changing demographics of race, ethnicity, and age. With a forward-thinking vision, JACL constantly assesses its role in Japanese American, Asian Pacific American, and civil rights communities. The organization embraces its increasingly multicultural, multi-ethnic community while preserving its immigrant legacy.
Additionally, JACL offers membership and various programs to engage youth, promote education, provide leadership opportunities, and offer scholarships and internships. Join JACL National in building a better, more inclusive future. Visit their San Francisco, Washington D.
C., or Los Angeles office for more information
