Jacqueline Hancher is a Scottish-born fashion designer whose career spans from 1979 to the present. Known for pairing bold creative designs with an audacious approach to business, Hancher established her label after securing Β£25,000 in orders while still at the beginning of her career. At 23, she also won second prize in BPβs annual Young Business Person of the Year competition.
Her fashion labels, Jacqueline Hancher and its menswear counterpart, Hancher, became known for extravagant leather garments. The designs attracted high-profile clients, with Hancher creating clothes for Madonna, Cher, Billy Idol, Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. Her collections have been exhibited and sold in London, New York, Paris, Milan and Tokyo.
The Jacqueline Hancher Archive presents material from across her career, including designs, collections, sketches, videos and press coverage, arranged in periods from 1979 onward. It offers an overview of the designerβs work and the development of her fashion labels, alongside a timeline and archive sections that trace her creative and professional history
