The Jaguar Rescue Center is a temporary or permanent home for ill, injured and orphaned animals. Working with all kinds of wild animals like felines, primates, reptiles, birds etc, the JRC provides veterinary services, round-the-clock care and comfort to animals that would otherwise be unable to survive in the rainforest or in the sea of the Caribbean. The primary goal of the JRC is to rehabilitate animals and reintroduce them back into their native habitats. Monkeys, birds, sloths, snakes and more are brought to the JRC and treated by professional veterinarians, caregivers and a hard-working team of staff and volunteers. In addition to the animal-care services, the JRC provides educational services to the residents and visitors of Costa Rica, as well as internship and research opportunities for biologists, veterinarians and researchers from around the world.

Jaguar Rescue Center (JRC) is a wildlife rescue and conservation organization in Costa Rica’s Southern Caribbean. Its sanctuary provides a temporary or permanent home for ill, injured, and orphaned animals, including sloths, monkeys, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and other mammals. The center offers veterinary services, round-the-clock care, and rehabilitation, with the aim of releasing animals back into the wild whenever possible.
JRC’s work extends beyond animal care. Its conservation programs include the La Ceiba release station, a 49-hectare area of primary forest within a biological corridor connecting Costa Rica and Panama; community initiatives; and the Shock Free Zone program, developed with ICE and MINAE to help protect wildlife from electrocution. Visitors can join guided public tours or book limited-capacity private tours to learn about the animals and the center’s work.
The organization also offers volunteer programs, internships, accommodation at several properties, symbolic animal adoptions, corporate sponsorships, and an online shop. Donations are an important source of support, as JRC reports receiving no government funding.
