Jakarta Enterprise Edition (Jakarta EE) is an open-source, vendor-neutral platform for building, running, and scaling enterprise Java applications. Hosted by the Eclipse Foundation, it carries forward the legacy of Java EE and provides standardized APIs for secure, reliable software across certified runtimes and cloud environments. Its specifications are organized into the Jakarta EE Platform, Web Profile, and Core Profile, with releases including Jakarta EE 11 and earlier versions. The platform supports capabilities such as web applications, persistence, messaging, security, RESTful services, and dependency injection.

Jakarta EE helps organizations modernize existing Java investments while developing applications suited to containers, orchestration, and cloud services. Its ecosystem includes compatible products and certified implementations, alongside specification documentation, project templates, tutorials, guides, and learning resources. The community also offers events, user groups, technical discussions, and opportunities to contribute to specifications and governance. Developers and organizations can participate through membership, sponsorship, mentorship, or direct contributions, helping shape the ongoing evolution of enterprise Java through open collaboration.
