Jake Shaw Climbing Trust

The Jake Shaw Climbing Trust is a charity established in memory of Jake Shaw, whose passion for climbing and mountaineering inspired its work. The Trust supports and encourages climbing and outdoor pursuits, helping more people experience the challenge, freedom and enjoyment of the outdoors. Its first major goal was to raise more than £30,000 to build a climbing wall at William Farr School in Welton, Lincoln. Now operating, the purpose-built wall provides a safe setting for people of different ages and abilities to discover climbing.

The Trust highlights the benefits of indoor climbing, including improved fitness, coordination and flexibility, as well as confidence-building and teamwork. It continues to work with contacts in the climbing community and directs support towards people who may face barriers to accessing outdoor activities. Donations help further this mission, and the charity welcomes contributions through bank transfer or other arrangements by email. The climbing wall also stands as a tribute to Jake, a William Farr student and Sheffield University mathematics graduate who volunteered as a climbing instructor at the Kandersteg International Scout Centre.
