About Jaliigirr
The Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance is a collaborative partnership of 20 key stakeholders dedicated to enhancing and safeguarding the biodiversity across diverse landscapes in mid-north New South Wales. Spanning an impressive 337,000 hectares from the Dorrigo Plateau to coastal plains, this alliance prioritizes the voluntary contributions of organizations, landholders, and the Aboriginal community. It operates predominantly within the Gumbaynggirr Aboriginal Nation, honoring the cultural beliefs and natural resource management practices of Aboriginal peoples.
The Alliance brings together local community members, government agencies, educational institutions, and businesses, all united by a shared commitment to maintaining environmental health. Their efforts are guided by several strategic plans, including the Northern Rivers Regional Biodiversity Management Plan and the Coffs Harbour Biodiversity Action Strategy, to ensure effective conservation practices. With a focus on respectful partnerships and acknowledgment of cultural connections, the Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance actively promotes sustainable management of landscapes, fostering resilient ecosystems for future generations.
