About JALT
JALT, also known as the Japan Association for Language Teaching, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of language education in Japan. With a membership of approximately 3,000 individuals, JALT offers opportunities for language educators and researchers to come together, share ideas, and collaborate. The organization's main objective is to promote excellence in language learning, teaching, and research.
JALT achieves this goal through various activities such as hosting an annual international conference, publishing journals like The Language Teacher and JALT Journal, and facilitating research meetings and workshops for members. JALT consists of 30 regional chapters and 24 special interest groups, covering a wide range of language education topics. Furthermore, JALT collaborates with international language teaching organizations, such as TESOL and IATEFL, as well as major English education societies in countries including Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, Taiwan, Russia, and the Philippines.
