James Hart Equiceuticals is a New Zealand brand of Ethical Extracts Limited, a boutique herbal company based in Horowhenua. Its products are made in New Zealand from fresh, natural ingredients and are developed for horses’ health and wellbeing. The range includes herbal extracts for behaviour and calming, joints and movement, and other specific needs, with products such as Valerian Calm, Devil’s Claw Flex, Competition Calm and Swagger.
The brand’s liquid extracts are manufactured to at least 1:2 strength and described as highly potent and fast absorbing, with a shelf life of up to five years. Ethical Extracts says it makes every product itself rather than relabelling or remixing imported products. Formulations have been developed and refined over more than thirty years by herbalists and horse breeders James and Vanessa Hart. Bespoke formulations may also be available for individual horse requirements. Products are sold through saddleries, equestrian and feed suppliers, veterinarians, Farmlands, and selected RD1, Farmsource and PGG Wrightson stores.
