Dr. Jameta Nicole Barlow is a multi-faceted professional dedicated to advancing women’s health through her roles as a writer, scholar, and doula. Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, she holds a PhD in Psychology and an MPH in Maternal and Child Health. As an assistant professor at The George Washington University, Dr. Barlow focuses on utilizing decolonizing methodologies to address issues like cardiometabolic syndrome and intergenerational trauma affecting Black girls and women.

Her consultancy, All About Afya, LLC, offers a range of services including workshops, retreats, and classes centered on holistic health, with a special emphasis on Black feminism and womanism. Dr. Barlow also runs digital storytelling initiatives such as the Saving Our Sisters Project, focused on Black women’s mental health, and has authored a forthcoming book addressing these critical themes. With 24 years of experience in public health and academia, she continues to advocate for health equity through her evidence-based curriculum, "writehealing™."
