Janakkalan Musiikkipäivät is a music festival organized by the Janakkalan Musiikkipäivät Association, which has presented springtime musical events and experiences in Janakkala since 1990. Its 2027 programme brings tango to the winter’s end with two concerts at St. Lawrence Church, featuring local and regional performers alongside classical and popular music.
The March 12 concert, “The Four Seasons of Tango,” pairs beloved Finnish tango songs with Astor Piazzolla’s Four Seasons. Violinist Linda Suolahti, cellist Artturi Aalto and conductor-pianist Miikka Taipale perform a programme that explores the changing seasons and different traditions of tango. On March 14, tango king Juho Punkeri presents a church concert combining classical melodies, sacred songs and familiar Finnish popular music, with pianist Mikko Haapaniemi accompanying him.
The association also welcomes new members and volunteers to help organize concerts. Membership is open to individuals and families, with annual fees of €15 and €25 respectively. The 2027 concerts are described as the final events organized by the association.
