About Jane Goodall Institute Austria
Jane Goodall Institute Austria is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to nature conservation, environmental education and the study of wild animals. Inspired by Jane Goodall’s vision, it works to protect chimpanzees and their habitats while supporting communities to build a future in which people, animals and nature can thrive together.
Its work spans Africa and Austria. Projects include protecting wild chimpanzees, removing snares and caring for orphaned chimpanzees at sanctuaries in Uganda, South Africa and the Republic of the Congo. The institute also supports research, including at the Gombe research station in Tanzania. Habitat initiatives plant trees, restore forests and help communities address climate impacts, with projects in countries including Uganda, Senegal and Tanzania. Social programmes include support for Batwa children and girls’ education in Uganda.
In Austria, Roots & Shoots engages children and young people in projects for the environment, animals and social justice. The institute offers several ways to get involved, including donations, chimpanzee, child and tree sponsorships, membership, volunteering and corporate partnerships.
