Jan Loos

Jan Loos, known as the “Verbeeldingsvakman” or imagination craftsman, is a visual artist and creative professional who turns stories and fantasy into images. His work draws on a lifelong interest in adventures, history and imaginative worlds, from his years bringing the past to life as a guide at Archeon to his later studies in media design at Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam.

Today, Jan combines hand-drawn illustration with artificial intelligence to create striking artwork, including fantasy characters, monsters and imagery inspired by Dungeons & Dragons. His portfolio also features AI-assisted projects, professional and personal photography, and graphic design. Earlier work included family photography in Mallorca, business photography and studio portraits, as well as logos, visual identities, flyers and posters for clients.

Alongside creating, Jan shares his knowledge through workshops and talks about the relationship between art and technology. Creativity, visual storytelling and curiosity guide his practice, which brings together illustration, photography, design and AI to give ideas a distinctive visual form.
