Janne unfolds

Janne unfolds is the creative practice of artist and biologist Janne Ouwehand, combining ecological knowledge, artistic exploration and curiosity about the natural world. Its work focuses on ecological relationships and on creating connections that can contribute to a more sustainable future. Through both creative and analytical approaches, Janne invites people to look more closely at their surroundings and discover new ways of relating to them.

At the heart of the practice is the Paddenstoelenbroedplaats, or Mushroom Growing Place, in Haren, the Netherlands. Described as a studio, garden-like retreat, cultivation space and workshop, it brings together learning about fungi and a sense of wonder. Janne unfolds also offers events, research and advice, and art. Its activities include Wondergronds 2.0, an art festival scheduled in Norg from 24 June to 19 July. The practice is partly relocated to Drenthe, while the Haren site remains part of its identity. A newsletter shares updates about developments, events and art, keeping interested visitors connected with Janne’s ongoing work.
