International Conservation Group JARO is a Central European network of 11 associations dedicated to practical nature conservation. Active since 1989, the group manages valuable habitats at hundreds of locations, with more than 5,000 acres under its care. Its work focuses on maintaining diverse, healthy landscapes, including grasslands, wetlands, light forests, ponds and other areas that need active management to prevent the loss of biodiversity.

JARO protects and restores habitats for butterflies and other wildlife, using grazing, habitat maintenance and, where appropriate, breeding and reintroduction to support threatened species. Its projects also cover wildlife rescue, conservation in quarries, nature along roads and railways, and tropical conservation work in Indonesia and Congo. The group collaborates with conservationists and works with companies and public administrations on landscape management and environmental responsibility.

Education is an important part of JARO’s mission. The organization offers field trips, lectures, training, online information, volunteer camps and conservation events that help people understand how ecosystems function and how to care for them.
