About JaxHistoricalSociety
The Jacksonville Historical Society, founded in 1929, is the oldest historical organization in the city of Jacksonville, Florida, and the only one that serves the entire community. Their mission is to engage and educate the people of Jacksonville about their history, preserving and sharing the evidence of the city's past, and advocating for the value of historic preservation. The society employs a professional staff who produces educational programming, supports and strengthens historic preservation, maintains four historic buildings in downtown Jacksonville, operates a large archives, and serves as the principal citywide history resource.
They provide public programs, lectures, and partner with various organizations to collect and share stories. Additionally, they actively promote heritage tourism and support area restoration projects.
