Jazz on the Ave is a Detroit community festival celebrating the city’s cultural legacy and the Historic Avenue of Fashion, a major Black business district along Livernois Avenue. The annual event brings residents and visitors together to enjoy live music, food, local vendors, classic cars, fashion, family activities, and a parade. The 2026 celebration is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, from 11 a.
m. to 8 p. m., on Livernois between 8 Mile and Curtis.
Its parade features participants including the Detroit Police Department Mounted Unit, Detroit’s All-City Marching Band, Urban City Cowboy, and Majik Touch Dance Company. Jazz on the Ave also promotes and supports local businesses, entrepreneurs, and artists, directing attendees to the Avenue of Fashion’s shops, salons, galleries, restaurants, and service providers. The event website shares schedules, maps, parking and street-closure information, and registration opportunities for attendees, performers, and vendors.
