About JCIRA
Jefferson County Immigrant Rights Advocates (JCIRA), also known in Spanish as Defensores de los Derechos de los Inmigrantes del Condado de Jefferson, is a community organization serving Jefferson and Clallam Counties and people detained at the Northwest Detention Center. It supports immigrants regardless of immigration status through practical assistance, information, and community programs. JCIRA helps people find legal aid and resources for food, housing, medical care, and health insurance, and offers financial assistance for legal fees and essential living costs, including rent, food, and school expenses.
At its Multicultural Center in Port Townsend, visitors can get help completing forms, use computers free of charge, and connect with community services. The center also hosts English-language and Spanish classes, events, and volunteer opportunities. JCIRA’s trained Rapid Response Team responds to reports of ICE or Border Patrol activity in Jefferson and Clallam Counties.
The organization shares immigration guides, immigrant stories, rights information, and federal legislation and policy updates, helping community members stay informed and find support
