About J Class Association
The J Class Association (JCA) embodies the rich heritage of J Class yachts, which epitomize the golden era of America's Cup racing in the 1930s. Built under the Universal Rule, these majestic vessels are renowned for their elegance and competitive spirit. The JCA was established to uphold the integrity of this iconic class, ensuring that both historic yachts and new replicas can participate in engaging races that celebrate their storied past.
The active fleet includes nine J Class yachts, with six replicas constructed since 2003, such as Ranger, Rainbow, and Hanuman. These vessels, originally designed with a rating between 65 and 76 feet, feature specific regulations to maintain fair and competitive racing. The association is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community, encouraging new builds from original plans, and facilitating events that highlight the nostalgia and craftsmanship of these extraordinary yachts.
Through sporting integrity and a commitment to historical reverence, the J Class Association ensures that the legacy of these remarkable boats continues to thrive for generations to come.
