About Jamaica Cancer Society
The Jamaica Cancer Society is a Jamaican non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1955 to fight cancer and help eliminate it as a major health problem in the country. Based in Kingston, with branches in St. Elizabeth, Manchester, and St. Ann/St. Mary, the Society serves the public through fixed-site and mobile screening units. Its services include screening, selected diagnostic and treatment services, cancer education, public health awareness programmes, and counselling and support for people affected by cancer and their families.
The Society’s work addresses several forms of cancer, including breast, cervical, colon, and prostate cancer. It also supports research to strengthen cancer prevention and care. Community involvement is central to its approach: people can volunteer, become members, donate, or take part in events such as Relay For Life. Through these programmes, services, and fundraising activities, the Jamaica Cancer Society brings communities together to support patients, families, and the wider effort against cancer in Jamaica.
