About DePasquale
Joseph DePasquale is a science visualizer, multimedia composer, and Principal Science Visuals Developer in the Office of Public Outreach at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. His work transforms complex astronomical data into vivid imagery and experiences that help audiences connect with the universe. As a lead visualizer for the James Webb Space Telescope’s first images, he helped select its initial targets and processed raw infrared data for the 2022 public releases. He has also created visualizations using Hubble and Webb observations, including work on the Pillars of Creation, accompanied by an original musical score.
DePasquale contributes visual expertise to projects and media productions, including Netflix’s Unknown: Cosmic Time Machine, CBS 60 Minutes, and IMAX’s Deep Sky. He offers talks and educational presentations for universities, planetariums, and media organizations on telescope imagery, science communication, and music for astronomical visualizations. His current work includes developing a visualization pipeline for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
