About (公財)日独協会 - Japanisch-Deutsche Gesellschaft Tokyo
The Japanisch-Deutsche Gesellschaft, or Japan-Germany Association, was established on October 30, 1911, and aims to foster mutual cultural exchange between Japan and Germany. Initially formed under the esteemed leadership of Prince Fumihiko Kuninomiya and former Prime Minister Katsura Taro, the association faced challenges during World War I that led to its temporary suspension. However, it was revived in 1926 and continued its mission until the end of World War II.
In 1952, the association was reorganized as a foundation to promote cultural, scientific, and economic collaboration between the two nations, which was officially recognized by the Japanese government. Today, it serves as a vital hub for bilateral relations, offering various services including German language courses—both regular and intensive—and hosting cultural seminars and events, such as the upcoming "Japan-Germany Partnership Days 2024." Through continuous engagement with government entities and partners, the association plays a crucial role in enhancing friendship and understanding between Japan and Germany.
