JDR Guitars is a small, independent guitar-making studio founded in 2006 by luthier Jeffrey Reid in the rolling hills of central Pennsylvania. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience playing in bands and repairing guitars, Reid creates custom stringed instruments shaped around each client’s musical tastes, personality, and playing style. He studied at the Nazareth Guitar Institute to further develop his craft.
Rather than producing guitars in a factory, JDR Guitars gives personal attention to each commission. A custom instrument takes approximately three months to create and is built using carefully selected woods and high-quality components. The work emphasizes tone and playability, with thoughtful respect for materials and traditional luthier techniques.
Customers can discuss aesthetics, wood choices, materials, and playing preferences directly with Reid to help shape a guitar suited to their needs. JDR Guitars aims to make instruments that are not only finely crafted, but also enjoyable to play and expressive of the musician’s individual style.
