About Jersey Chess Club
The Jersey Chess Club (JCC) is a non-profit organisation that promotes chess and provides opportunities for players across Jersey to enjoy and improve their game. With around 30 to 40 members, the club welcomes beginners and experienced players, young and old. It holds weekly games and tournaments, including the Island Championships, which attract approximately 20 to 30 local competitors each year. Club nights take place at the Old Magistrate’s Court in Seale Street, St Helier, during the season; the club closes for summer and reopens in September.
JCC organises events such as the Tony Fulton Cup, the Chess League, inter-insular matches and the Jersey International Chess Tournament. The international event features FIDE-rated Swiss tournaments, including an Open section and a Holiday section for players below specified rating limits. The club also offers junior chess and online chess activities, alongside opportunities for physical games and socialising. Visitors can find event details and contact the club through its website, which provides information for prospective members and tournament entrants.
