About Jewish Foundation for the Righteous
JFR, or The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous, is a brand that honors and supports the non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. Founded in 1986 by Rabbi Harold M. Schulweis, JFR is dedicated to the recognition and assistance of these brave individuals, known as Righteous Gentiles.
Starting with just eight rescuers, JFR's support has grown to reach 1,800 rescuers in 18 countries. As these rescuers age and pass on, the number of supported individuals is declining, but JFR continues to receive applications on behalf of recently recognized rescuers. In addition to financial aid, JFR also runs a national Holocaust education program.
This program aims to educate middle and high school teachers about the history of the Holocaust and provide them with resources to incorporate this knowledge into their classrooms. JFR's Board of Trustees, led by Chairman Harvey Schulweis, has played a crucial role in the success of the foundation. With the support of dedicated business, civic, and lay leaders, JFR is able to provide aid and educate future generations.
For those interested in getting involved, JFR offers opportunities to donate, volunteer, and stay connected through their website. They can also be contacted via email or phone for more information
