JGSGB, the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston, was established in 1982 as a study group for individuals eager to explore their Jewish family history. Over the years, it has grown into a vibrant community with more than 500 dedicated members. As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, JGSGB is affiliated with over seventy Jewish genealogical societies worldwide and has been proud to host the International Conference on Jewish Genealogy in Boston in 1996 and 2013.

Whether you're a novice or an experienced researcher, JGSGB offers a wealth of resources and support. Monthly meetings provide a platform to gain valuable information and skills, as well as an opportunity to connect with others who share an interest in Jewish family research. The society also offers a comprehensive 20-hour genealogy course for those looking to dive deeper into their roots.

In addition to their regular programs and meetings, JGSGB has undertaken special projects such as compiling indexes to obituaries and wedding announcements from The Jewish Advocate, once Boston's primary weekly Jewish newspaper. Furthermore, the society provides speakers who offer introductory talks on Jewish genealogy to various Jewish organizations. Membership with JGSGB grants access to a range of benefits, including their research library, monthly e-newsletter, and participation in special interest groups focusing on specific regions or topics.

The society also organizes research Sundays, during which members can engage in hands-on genealogical research. Whether you're just starting your journey into Jewish family history or are already well-versed in research techniques, JGSGB warmly welcomes you to join their passionate community and explore the rich tapestry of Jewish genealogy
