About Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre
The Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre (JHGC) is a memorial and educational centre in Forest Town, Johannesburg, South Africa. It remembers victims of the Holocaust, Nazi Germany and the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, while offering visitors opportunities to learn, reflect and engage with remembrance. The Centre presents permanent and special exhibitions and provides a Resource Centre and Archive, publications, online resources and online exhibitions.
Its education programmes include visits for learner groups, educator training and resources, adult groups, study tours and the Change Makers initiative. The JHGC also honours survivors and victims through remembrance projects and programmes, including the Twinning Butterfly Project. Visitors can find practical information about directions, admission and upcoming events on the Centre’s website.
On site, Issy’s Coffee & Gift Shop offers fresh food and unique local gifts, and the Centre’s space is available for use. The JHGC invites individuals and groups to visit, explore its educational and remembrance work, attend activities and support its continued growth through donations
