Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) is a global organization committed to empowering journalists and improving human rights coverage in local contexts. Since 2002, JHR has worked tirelessly to train and engage local journalists, media outlets, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders. JHR believes in creating an enabling environment where objective media can thrive and the voices of the public can be heard.
Through genuine partnerships and the effective sharing of skills and expertise, JHR leverages existing knowledge to build coalitions of support for media freedom within local authorities and networks. They have already made a significant impact, reaching an audience of 65 million in 29 countries, training over 15,650 journalists, and collaborating with 400 media partners and organizations. JHR's approach focuses on long-term sustainability, with an emphasis on capacity building, embedded training within communities, development of course curricula with local institutions, and strengthening networks.
