Jij Speelt de Hoofdrol is a Dutch nonprofit foundation created by and for people living with or affected by breast cancer. Drawing on lived experience, it helps current and former patients find answers to challenges during and after treatment, offering reliable information, inspiration and peer support. Its work is guided by the belief that collaboration and patient expertise matter, and that patients’ voices should be heard.

The foundation connects people through its breast cancer symposium, workshops, webinars, podcasts, blogs and online communities. It also supports people affected by cancer in maintaining employment and returning to work, sharing information and hosting round-table discussions and practical sessions. Its Kanker & Werk Facebook group provides access to questions and guidance from volunteer professionals, and welcomes anyone affected by cancer.

Jij Speelt de Hoofdrol works with donors, partners and other professionals to strengthen support for patients. It has held ANBI charitable status, operates without a profit motive and relies on donations, grants, gifts and partner contributions to fund its activities.
