Jim Dunn Run is a community running event in Morgantown, West Virginia, held in memory of Jim Dunn. Its mission is to support education, sports, and recreation through the annual in-person and virtual race. Proceeds help fund the Jim Dunn Memorial Scholarship, awarded to West Virginia high school students pursuing college education and running careers, and provide a yearly endowment to SteppingStones, which offers year-round recreation for children and adults with disabilities.
The event features an in-person run and fun walk, as well as virtual participation. Runners can complete a five-mile route remotely, while walkers may take a two-mile route. The in-person course travels through Morgantown’s Wharf District, along the Caperton Rail Trail, and into the WVU Core Arboretum. Participants can register online, and virtual runners can submit results through the event’s Facebook page or website. Jim Dunn Run also welcomes sponsors, volunteers, and community supporters, and shares race information, results, scholarship details, photos, and updates through its website and Facebook page.
